PU FM Radio Centre marks 'World Radio Day' LAHORE: (Wednesday, February 15, 2023): Punjab University School of Communication Studies’ FM Radio Centre organized a seminar on 'Radio and Peace' to mark World Radio Day at Hameed Nizami Hall. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Media and Information Studies Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood, Director of School of Communication Studies Prof Dr Nosheena Saleem, Senior Journalist Shahid Malik, Chairperson Department of Development Communication Dr Ayesha Ashfaq, Chairperson Department of Digital Media Prof Dr Savera Shami, RJ Moona Zia, Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Soomro, Program Manager Radio Center FM 104.6 Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry, Resource Person Wajiha Arif, Masood Malhi and students were present. In her speech, Ms Moona said that today's youth does not give importance to radio and think that radio is difficult medium as compared to other media. Shahid Malik said that in Pakistan radio is considered as a backward medium, while in England everyone’s morning starts with listening to radio. He said that the culture of dialogue must be promoted to achieve peace in the country. Dr Khalid Mahmood said that radio has access to places where newspapers cannot reach. He said that Islam teaches peace and radio should be used to establish peace in the society. Dr Akram Soomro said that communication has become very powerful in today's era; it has a very important role in the 5th generation war.
