PU PSC organizes lecture The Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), University of the Punjab, Lahore organized a
lecture on May 30, 2023 (Tuesday) at 12:30 p.m. on “Sri – Lanka : Nation Ruled to National
Rule.” Dr. Shanti Kumar Hettiarachchi, Professor, School of the Religion and Philosophy,
Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Minhaj University, Lahore was guest speaker.
The guest speaker started the discussion with a brief historical background of Sri-
Lanka in colonial context. He also threw light on geographical location and after makeup
of the country to highlight its significance in South Asian region. After shedding light on
the colonial history of Sri-Lanka, he informed the audience about neo colonialism which
is still prevalent in the international community of states. He also drew comparative
analysis of both Sri-Lanka and Pakistan in colonial context. He concluded his discussion
with the argument that Sri-Lanka, one a colonized country, is still not completely free
from colonialism through apparently there is a national rule in the country of the recent
wave of violence in Sri-Lanka. All faculty members, M.Phil./Ph.D. scholars of the CSAS and various department of University of the Punjab, Lahore attended the event in which research scholars and the students participated actively. Tweet Follow @pu_lhr_official |
