LAHORE: (Tuesday, October 10, 2023): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has said that philanthropists and institutions should come forward to financially assist deserving students who suffer from financial difficulties face problems in completing their education. He was addressing scholarship ceremony, organized by Qasim Ali Foundation's Taleem Mumkin project at Al Raazi Hall here on Tuesday. On the occasion, Chairman Foundation Qasim Ali Shah, senior journalist Salman Abid, renowned anchor Zohaib Saleem Butt, podcaster Hafiz Ahmed and students were present. In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood said that it is our vision that no deserving student should miss out on education due to lack of fees. He said that PU with the support of various NGOs, foundations and alumni will play a role in providing affordable and quality education. He appreciated the efforts of Qasim Ali Shah for the promotion of education in the country. Qasim Ali Shah said that when the foundation was started, there were 70 students, while today they are giving scholarships to 770 students of 7 universities in two or three years. He said that the purpose of Qasim Ali Shah Foundation is to provide financial support to the students as well as personality building. Salman Abid said that today’s students have better opportunities and resources for education which should be taken advantage. He said that humanization with financial support is a unique project. Zohaib Saleem Butt said that education is the right of every child for which all sections of the society should work together. He said that knowledge should be spread so that the society can be beautiful. Hafiz Ahmed said that doing good to someone without hurting self-esteem is certainly a commendable act for which Chairman Qasim Ali Shah Foundation deserves praise. He said that education and skills are the things that can bring any person to a higher position.
