Co-curricular activities essential to develop competitive spirit, PU VC LAHORE: (Tuesday, February 13, 2024): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has said that it is necessary to organize co-curricular activities to promote the trend of healthy competition and tolerance among students. He was addressing the opening ceremony of 4-day interdepartmental co-curricular competitions organized by Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs at Al Raazi Hall on Tuesday. On this occasion, Director Students Affairs Dr Muhammad Ali Kalasra, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In his address, PU VC Dr Khalid Mahmood said that co-curricular activities improve students' self-confidence, communication skills and other abilities. He said that co-curricular activities are an important part of the curriculum. He said that a person should always continue the process of learning. He said that despite the limited resources, the effort of PU Directorate of Students Affairs for organizing the event is commendable. He hoped that the students will learn from this platform and make the name of Pakistan and PU bright at all levels. Dr Muhammad Ali said that after almost five years, under the guidance and vision of VC Dr Khalid Mahmood, four-day co-curricular competitions are being organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, which will continue in the future. He said that hundreds of students from different departments are participating in Qiraat, essay writing, poetry, parliamentary debates, bilingual speeches, quiz, naat, national songs and English poetry competitions.
