Lahore, Friday, September 5, 2025 – The Department of Information Technology, University of the Punjab, formally approved and launched its Class Counseling Program during the 12th faculty meeting held today. The initiative is designed to promote student well-being, personal growth, and academic success. |
Under this program, each faculty member will serve as a Class Counselor for one academic year, acting as the primary point of contact for their assigned class. Counselors will engage proactively with students, provide one-on-one support for academic and personal challenges, organize group activities to strengthen community bonds, and connect students with university-level support services when needed. |
The program highlights proactive communication, empathy, and trust-building, ensuring that students feel heard, supported, and guided in both academic and personal matters. To strengthen accountability and track progress, counselors will also maintain an activity log. |
Dr. Sadeeqa R. Khan, Focal Person of the Counseling Program, remarked: |
“This initiative reflects our commitment to creating a student-centric environment at PUCIT. We want our students to know they are not alone in their journey – they have a mentor and guide to turn to at every stage of university life.” |
Prof. Dr. Syed Waqar ul Qounain Jaffry, Chairman, Department of IT, added: |
“At PUCIT, we believe that academic excellence goes hand in hand with emotional and personal well-being. The Class Counseling Program is a step toward building stronger faculty-student bonds, helping students manage challenges more effectively, and preparing them for both professional success and personal growth.” |
The Class Counseling Program marks a significant step toward cultivating a supportive campus culture, equipping students with strategies for stress management, time management, and career readiness, while also prioritizing their emotional well-being. |
