LAHORE: (Wednesday, May 15, 2024): In connection with ‘World Migratory Day’ Punjab University Institute of Zoology organized “The Night Zoo Safari Camping” event at Lahore Zoo Safari. On this occasion, DG wildlife Mudassar Riaz Malik, Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In his statement, Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that the purpose of the event was to get aimed at understanding ungulate behavior, wildlife storytelling, wildlife movies, lion safari. He said that the event brought together wildlife enthusiasts, researchers and students for a unique overnight adventure in the heart of Lahore. He said that the event coincided with World Migratory Bird Day, providing an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable journeys of migratory birds and raise awareness about the importance of preserving their habitats. He said that through Pakistani movies made by Badar Munir and edited by Babar Bukhari, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges facing migratory birds and the need for international cooperation to ensure their survival. He said that students had the opportunity to observe ungulates in their semi-natural habitat under the guidance of Dr Rizwan and Prof Zulfiqar Ali. He said that throughout the evening, expert storytellers engaged the audience with captivating tales of wildlife adventures and conservation efforts. These stories not only entertained but also served as powerful tools for raising awareness about the importance of preserving our natural heritage, he added. He said that Badar Munir, Babar Bukhari and team displayed a series of wildlife documentaries and films were screened during the event, providing attendees with a cinematic journey into the world of lions, migratory birds, and other fascinating wildlife species. He said that one of the highlights of the event was the lion safari, where participants embarked on guided tours through the nocturnal landscape to observe these majestic predators in their natural environment. Under the guidance of DG wildlife Mudassar Riaz Malik and Prof Zulfiqar Ali, students witnessed firsthand the raw beauty and power of lions as they roamed their territory under the starlit sky. Later, in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the zoo’s mission of wildlife conservation and education, certificates were awarded to interns who completed their training programs. He thanked Badar Munir, Muddassir Riaz Malik, Deputy Director Safari Zoo Tanveer Janjua, Dr Rizwan and all wildlife staff for the arrangements.
