PU DPP organizes seminar LAHORE: (Wednesday, May 29, 2024): Punjab University Department of Plant Pathology organized a seminar on ‘Environment Sustainability and Agriculture’. On this occasion, Director Sustainable Development Study Centre, Government College University Lahore Prof Dr Faiza Sharif, Formans Christian College University Lahore’s Prof Dr Aisha Saleem Khan, Chairperson Department of Plant Pathology Prof Dr Tehmina Anjum, PU ORIC Director Prof Dr Shakeel Ahmad, former Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, faculty members and students were present. The objective of the seminar was to create awareness among students and researchers regarding climate crises and pollution challenges in agriculture. In her address, Dr Faiza shed light on emerging issues within Pakistan's agricultural system due to climate change and global warming, offering potential solutions and encouraging students to delve into these areas. Dr Aisha shared her research findings from WWF-funded projects on phytoremediation, captivating the audience with intriguing data and plant illustrations. Dr Shakeel Ahmad commended the work of both scientists and stressed the importance of involving agricultural students in relevant research. Dr Saleem Haider applauded the Department of Plant Pathology for organizing a seminar on such a crucial topic, highlighting how such platforms open up new research avenues for young minds.
