Prominent Scientists Visit Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) for Collaborative Research Discussions On October 10th, 2024, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, former Coordinator General COMSTECH and former Director of ICCBS, HEJ, along with Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, Head of Life Sciences Department at Health Services Academy (HSA), visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), Lahore. The distinguished guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, Director CEMB, who provided a comprehensive overview of the Centre’s ongoing research projects, innovations, and achievements in molecular biology. He gave a detailed briefing on advancements in biosimilar production, aimed at providing affordable therapeutic alternatives, and highlighted pioneering efforts in stem cell therapy research, which focus on regenerative medicine and developing potential treatments for various diseases. During their visit, Prof. Choudhry and Prof. Baig participated in scientific meetings and in-depth discussions aimed at the future development of collaborative research programs that would elevate CEMB’s research profile. They emphasized the importance of enhancing research capacities and fostering inter-institutional collaborations to address pressing health challenges through advanced genetic and therapeutic research. The visit also included tours of various laboratories, where the esteemed scientists engaged in detailed discussions with lab members, reviewing their work on cutting-edge projects, including biosimilar development, molecular virology, genetic screening, applied and Functional genomics, genetic diseases, stem cell applications, and environmental biotechnology. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhry praised the world-class research being conducted at CEMB’s labs, highlighting the Centre’s significant contributions to molecular biology and therapeutic innovations.
